Texas joins the State Sovereignty movement

HCR 50 was introduced in the Texas legislature on Tuesday.

We are still working on a strategy for introducing Ohio's resolution and expect to make an announcement within the next two weeks. In the meantime, please circulate the petition!

Sorry, boys, the secessionist movement was quashed back in 1865, and Ohio was one of the quashers. And just for the record, the US is a product of its people, not of its states.

I'd suggest you get serious. If you're of a mind to join the rest of us, spend your time coming up with solutions to our current problems. Jeff Davis has been dead for several decades now.

I think you're a little confused.

State sovereignty isn't secession. While I favor the latter, the point of the State sovereignty resolutions is to make a last-ditch effort to preserve the Union by returning it to Constitutional principles.

Going further back in history, a person using your reasoning would be a Loyalist telling his Patriot brethren to get serious. “If you’re of a mind to join the rest of us, spend your time coming up with solutions to our current problems.” – like unfair tariffs, stamp taxes, and tea taxes.

The United States is a product of the States, not the people. Read Federalist #39 on the relationship that James Madison saw between the States and the Federal Government. Read the Kentucky Resolution by Thomas Jefferson. For that matter, read the Declaration of Independence – that is, if you can open your mind enough to consider a point of view other than Abe Lincoln’s. Jeff Davis really doesn’t have a thing to do with it.

Jefferson Davis is still my President.

The Declaration of Independence recognizes the right of the people to overthrow their government. It is obvious from such a provision that the drafters foresaw the limits of the usefulness of the union being formed and the right to withdraw. The end is near for the Union. The people are hostile. The 1770's are being revisited, not the civil war era.

We need a new Declaration of Independence - from our tyrannical government.
