I respect those who have entered the armed forces of our country, and wish that what I am about to write were untrue; but when we look at the cost and the results to date of the very long wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the prospect of injecting ourselves into new wars in Iran and elsewhere, we need to wake up and realize that (paraphrasing Winston Churchill):
Never in the field of human conflict have so many given so much for so little.
The best thing our new Governor could do for our armed forces is to bring home the Ohio National Guard, and refuse to authorize any more deployments, except for emergency relief or defense against foreign aggression.
