- The lesser of two evils is still evil.
- A vote for a Republican or Democrat in most races is rewarding the negative campaigning you have been complaining about for weeks.
- Expecting a radical change from the Republicans will do less good than whistling into the wind.
- No real change will come from either party in Washington -- our best hope for freedom is by electing radical Republicans, Libertarians, and Constitutionalists in Columbus.
I have said all I can say. The rest is up to you.

I'm still waiting for Bush I's "peace dividend," Clinton's "middle-class tax cut," Bush II's "humble foreign policy" and Obama's "change."
That right there is evidence enough for anyone paying attention for the last 20 years that the Dems and GOP are for the most part liars and thieves of the highest (lowest?) degree.
Negative campaigning?
Do you mean the Vermont's gubernatorial secesher windbag, Dennis Steele's middle finger or the numerous cheap shots that he proudly thanked the Vermont Press Association for allowing him to take at Bryan Dubie (as well as Peter Shumlin). He didn't spare the other independents from his low blows, either.
Nice guy... and he's all yours.
My dear Mr. Rowley:
Dennis Steele is not all mine. I am not a Vermonter, even though I am a secessionist.
Before you jump to such rash judgments about all secessionists, I strongly recommend that you read how we approach it here in Ohio.
A secessionist who exhibits poor judgment is worse than a unionist with a good one.
Oh, and by the way, Mr. Rowley, I was amused by your reference to me as a "gerbil in a wheel, spitting out worthless posts about secession-is-just-around-the-corner almost daily".
Shows me that I pay closer attention to your blog than you do to mine.
Good for you!
Squeak, squeak... squeak, squeak... squeak, squeak... squeak, squeak... squeak, squeak...
Don't forget to get some water and pellets or you'll dehydrate.
;-)
Never said you were a Vermonter. You're a drone/boot licker for the Naylor/Sale ideology.
Why don't you suggest that Steele concede instead of issuing silly "the-sun-will-come-out-tomorrow" statements after being the tool of Naylor, in an election that will be a benchmark of secesher ineffectual nonsense for years to come?
Best,
T.
My dear Mr. Rowley:
"Why don't you suggest that Steele concede instead of issuing silly 'the-sun-will-come-out-tomorrow' statements after being the tool of Naylor, in an election that will be a benchmark of secesher ineffectual nonsense for years to come?"
Simple. It's none of my business. The people of Vermont are entitled to whatever government they want, and they don't need a carpetbagger from Ohio to tell them how to vote.
The fact that Messrs. Sale, Naylor, and even Steele make valid points from time to time -- and that I quote them -- does not make me (in the mind of any reasonable person who reads them in the context of the rest of my blog) a "drone/bootlicker for the Naylor/Sale ideology."
To make that assertion means that you either have not read, or do not understand, my posts of Sept. 30 and Oct. 1. But since you are too lazy to follow a link (or at least to comment on it), I will spell out the position I gave then.
In my Oct. 1 post, I wrote that any talk of secession in Ohio is premature at this time, then added:
"[W]e have to consider the fact that the success of any movement requires favorable public opinion. Frankly, the public opinion I have observed has viewed most existing secessionist movements as rather flaky. We do not need this kind of public relations baggage.
"We have a good thing going in Ohio. We don’t need, and shouldn’t even want a secessionist organization at this time. If the situation changes in a way that would make such a movement desirable, we can reconsider."
How this makes me a "drone/bootlicker for the Naylor/Sale ideology" is a mystery to me.
But I think you really just want to hide behind that fake name of yours and do snarky drive-by attacks on non-Vermont secessionists without addressing the real issues.
My friends in Ohio would probably tell me to ignore you; and I think that might be a very good strategy going forward.
