Andy Myers shares a quote that expresses the libertarian view of charity:
We
are obliged to love God and love our neighbors. How we satisfy that
commandment is up to us. It is not the place of anyone else or any
organization to do our loving for us; coerced charity is not charity.
Nor does the end of alleviating poverty, desirable though that end may
be, justify another in confiscating my resources from me for that end,
even if those resources would in fact be devoted to that cause and not,
as is often the case, simply wasted.
-Gerard Casey
A governmental "redistribution of wealth" is nothing but legalized theft.
